Olalaaa! Being awarded No. 8 most attractive company in the world by students is definitely something to shout loud and proud about.

Business and Engineering/IT students in the world’s 12 largest economies: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Russia, UK and USA, have chosen their favorite employers. More than 265000 millennials in Universum’s Talent Survey have ranked the companies they find most desirable for employment.

So what makes L’Oréal more attractive than any other company? Maybe it’s the awesome teams— after all, what’s a great job without great people? Maybe it’s the cool perks and benefits, or a nifty-looking office with a massive roof terrace or a lush garden. Or maybe it’s a chance to work for a company that’s making sweeping innovations in its industry with an inspiring vision.

We sat down with a handful of our fab young talent at L’Oréal to learn more about what makes them get positive goosebumps when working at L’Oréal.

Susanna, Jr Product Manager Lancôme & Clarisonic, L’Oréal Australia

What attracted you to joining L’Oréal? Growing up as a little girl, I remember being fascinated watching my mother get ready, I was always enthralled by the transformation that a lipstick or a dash of mascara could do, not just to your appearance but also how you felt. Makeup and beauty has always been a part of my life and it ended up being an obsession, I dreamt of working in the industry. I became a beauty counter manager during my years at university so when I saw that L’Oréal had an internship program as I was nearing the end of my degree, I knew I had to be a part of this world. L’Oréal was the only company I applied for when I graduated. Talk about putting all your eggs in one basket, but I’ve always been a risk-taker and this one turned out just right.

What for you makes L’Oréal such an attractive employer for students & graduates? So often when you hear of an internship or a graduate role, the job entails photocopying and heavily admin. A grad role and internship at L’Oréal completely flips that definition on its head. I was encouraged from day one to feel comfortable to pitch for projects and share my ideas. I was learning the moment I set foot here and I love it!

Giuseppe, Marketing Intern, L’Oréal Italy

What attracted you to joining L’Oréal? I got in touch with L’Oréal during a session of employer branding conducted in my university. The recruiting team introduced to students the company and a business case, challenging us to propose an Integrated Marketing campaign for Men Expert. That experience influenced significantly my perception of the company. So far I’ve thought to L’Orèal as a leader in the beauty care field, after that meeting I had the opportunity to keep in touch with the company, understanding what really means being part of L’Oréal family! I was fascinated by the enthusiasm, the knowledge and the focus on the young profiles. It was all very attractive to me and that’s why I’m here.

Umberto, CRM and Data Science Intern, L’Oréal Canada

What attracted you to joining L’Oréal? I joined L’Oréal through my experience at the L’Oréal Brandstorm. My teammates and I were recruited at the end of the Canadian finals. Since then, we went to Paris for the International finals and won 2nd place!

I was attracted by L’Oréal because I knew that I would learn a lot. All the employees are very talented and are always available to help each other. I am part of the data science team but I regularly work with other departments, allowing me to constantly develop my skills.

Umberto and his Brandstorm team mates, all are now working for L’Oréal Canada having participated in Brandstorm 2017

What for you makes L’Oréal such an attractive employer for Students and Graduates? L’Oréal is clearly an attractive employer for Students and Graduates. This first reason is the amount of trust and reliance the group puts in all its employees and interns. I have been interning in Montreal for 2 months and I’m already leading 3 projects. Everyone takes you seriously and believes in your work.

The entrepreneurial spirit at L’Oréal is also a great attractive factor. Whenever you have an idea you think could contribute positively to the Group, people encourage you to try it out. In fact, people at L’Oréal Canada like to say “Test and Learn Is the New Perfection” which clearly pushes everyone to experiment and think outside the box.

Lewis, Armani Intern, L’Oréal UK

What attracted you to L’Oréal? Before applying to L’Oréal I was impressed by the opportunity they had to offer to work with leading brands all across the world; the ability to move around different roles within the company made me certain that there would always be a new challenge to face. I knew there was no fear I would ever get bored at work or of the Group!

What about L’Oréal makes us so attractive to students and grads in your opinion? The ability to have a direct say in the actions of brands you and your friend use everyday is something I think is very exciting! Not only this but representing a company that is transforming the industry, people and the world we live in for the better is an opportunity too good to turn down.

Sebastien, Talent Acquisition Intern, L’Oréal France

What attracted you to join L’Oréal as an intern? When I started looking for a gap year internship I wanted to work for a company which takes actions and gives back to the community. I wrote my thesis on Corporate Social Responsibility and how it can influence a person to apply for a position in a given company, so it made sense to me to look for a company which is leading in ethical and sustainable business practices.

On a completely different level, my mum has been working for a CAC 40 company for the past 25 years. Even though she loves her job and what she does on a daily basis, she was never really given a chance to succeed and to rise. When I was making research on the companies I wanted to target for my internship I found out how the position of women at work and in our society matters to L’Oréal. I read the “Sharing Beauty With All” document and the “Share and Care” program and I was moved by so many actions taken to improve womens’ positions. Even though I’m not a woman, it’s a subject dear to my heart.

I also heard from friends who were working at L’Oréal and who told me how the work environment allows you to be creative, daring and how you can take actions and have an impact even though you’re just an intern. L’Oréal seems to be a company which values taking initiatives and which pushes people to deliver the best of themselves so it’s exactly what I was looking for!

Ruben, Marketing Graduate, Matrix, L’Oréal Nordics

What attracted you to joining L’Oréal? Marketing is my passion, and L’Oréal is the best “marketing schools” in the world. So I was thinking why not go for one of the best already from the start. The Group’s brand portfolio is massive and consists of many iconic and cool brands that requires you to be creative. I also heard that the colleagues are great, and trust me — it’s true!

How does it feel to work for one of the most attractive employers in the world? It feels great, and I am not surprised that L’Oréal is voted as one of the most attractive employers in the world. Every day is different and you are never bored. As a graduate you are able to make an impact right from the start. To see your ideas becoming reality is an amazing feeling.

Camila, Product Manager, L’Oréal Luxe, L’Oréal Argentina

What attracted you to joining L’Oréal? What attracted me to L’Oréal at first sight was the empire which was built around its name which is recognized, admired and valued worldwide. However, what attracted me the most was the type of social being it was: helping everybody around the world feel self-confident and the best version of themselves.

What for you makes L’Oréal such an attractive employer for young talent? It’s the ambition to make every single person around the globe feel proud of themselves and valuable. It’s the best teams of some of the brightest minds in the industry. It’s a place where each voice is heard, each idea is valued and each person learns nothing is impossible and that you can think big/out of the box.

It takes a bit of effort to climb a high and rocky mountain but those who dare to dream big and are not afraid to push the limits get rewarded. L’Oréal is a place that bets on young talents and makes everybody feel unique. The motto at L’Oréal is: we look for personalities, not for university titles.

Zoey, Management Trainee, L’Oréal China

What attracted you to joining L’Oréal? L’Oréal is one of the world’s Tpo 500 enterprises and has a leading position in FMCG industry. The work experience will be a huge plus for my career development in the future.

What for you makes L’Oréal such an attractive employer for students and graduates? L’Oréal is an attractive employer for students and graduates due to many reasons. As for me, the most attractive point is that it is a very great beginning for career path and there are a lot of training and development opportunities to help to become the best version of yourself. Especially the Management Trainee Program, it provides the opportunity to work in different teams, which helps to have a complete view of the business.

Mafalda, Digital Communications Intern, L’Oréal Portugal

What attracted you to L’Oréal? An Internship at L’Oréal is not just one more, it takes full commitment and sooner that you expect you become a competitive advantage for the company. We are evaluated, tested, we strike and we make mistakes, and above all, we constantly learn. Everyday we face a new challenges, and our managers count on us to overcome those challenges. It’s easy to be delighted by our brands, to be fascinated with different markets, but what really love at L’Oréal are the people. All of them have something in common: they are so driven and so passionate about the company! Working in L’Oréal is exacly that, is being completely in love!”

Lynn, Digital Team, L’Oréal China

What attracted you to L’Oréal? As a college student in China, I found out that L’Oréal is a huge globally influential Group.

To me, personally, L’Oréal is a great environment with caring colleagues who give me the confidence to improve and improvise. Also, with the guidance of many leaders, I get to learn many useful life skills. In the end, what really influences me is the same ideology shared by thousands of employees at L’Oréal - “Share beauty with all.”
